About Rachel

I am the author of The Roommates, The Good Teacher, and The Perfect Neighbours. I also write the Gloucestershire Crime Series, which includes Her Deadly Friend and Her Charming Man. Book 3 Her Rising Star came out in May 2026.

My dark thriller, An Ordinary House, will be published under my pen name, Rae Starling, in September 2026 and can be pre-ordered now.

I won Writing Magazine’s Crime Short Story competition and have been shortlisted in various competitions including the Bristol Short Story Prize. My stories have appeared in My Weekly and the Saucy Shorts series by Accent Press.

I am a graduate of Aberystwyth University and hold a PhD from the University of Birmingham. I provide bespoke critiques for Henshaw Press short story competition entrants and am a judge in the quarterly competitions. After many years in Germany, I now live in Gloucestershire with my family. My hobbies are visiting country houses and coffee shops, and going to the theatre.
